The Scales of Gildrose

Years and years of terrible dreams haunt you as long as you can remember. After a sleepless night and a long conversation with your mother, you finally get a reason: your father, a man who has remained a mystery to you all your life, is not human. It's time to go visit him and meet a whole new side to yourself you never expected.

Take a walk through the life of a fresh college grad, Aurum, now back home in their usual routine of working, sleeping, and hanging with your one friend who hasn't left your hometown. All through their life, they've felt out of place and strange compared to their peers. Their ears are peaked, their eyes are a strange hue, and their teeth are a bit sharper than others. The most annoying to Aurum, however, is a skin condition -- according to their mother, it's something they've had since birth. It causes them to dry up terribly bad. Their mother, however, has also been fiercely protective of Aurum, with being a practicing with and all. She's used sigils, salts, waters, nearly anything she could get her hands on. 

And yet, none of it seemed to work well enough to deter their dreams. One particularly rough night of sleep leaves Aurum with deeper questions about their family, questions they've avoided asking up to now. A letter your mother has held onto since your birth will begin to answer your questions.

Pack your bags, and welcome to Gildrose: a small island transition hub for monsters of all walks of life to establish their new lives in the world of humans, or to return to their own domains. You'll meet all sorts here -- naga to spiders, deer to were-folk! Who knows, your dating life could end up pretty swell here, too. At the very least, they'll surely help welcome you to Gildrose with open arms! Well, some of them, anyway... However, with meeting your father, comes some uncomfortable confrontations with his past that are still bleeding into your life. 

In its current state:

* Use a chosen name, or simply hit Enter to use Aurum's name, along with your choice of pronoun,

* Enjoy around 3-4 hours of story around Aurum's coming-of-age, 

* Get a peek at the town of Gildrose and its inhabitants (including some available dates as the game progresses!),

* Get to know your father and establish the reason for your dreams.

As progress increases, we are aiming to:

* Have multiple endings based on the common route, 

* Allow twelve dateable options of all sorts of body types and gender identities, along with the possibility of polyamory options,

* Have multiple CGs and expressive sprite work, 

* Voice acting, and custom music commissioned.
